The organization held its 3rd quarterly meeting for 2015 at Oseng’teti primary school. The meeting which begun at 10am and lasted 3 hours was graced by all officials and a total of 43 members. This represented a 75% attendance. The agenda for the meeting was: The chairman lauded the group spirit especially on the new found action orientation towards value chain development. A lot of progress has been noted in group cohesion, loan utilization, work performance by committees especially the MEAL committee, share drive, meeting attendance and their conduct. He singled out leadership at nucleus level as very key to the group success and sustainability. He reported recent developments including purchase of land, website, Bomet County and Kisii County trips organization of key value chain capacity building and acquisition of secretariat facilities such as computer, printer and internet modem. Nucleus performance in conducting meetings

The members commended the work done by the MEAL committee and encouraged them to continue with process of keeping the group on track and promoting learning for development in organizational activities. As part of value chain development capacity building, OSIEPE organized a one-day workshop on dairy and chicken health management training for its members on 20th August 2015. The workshop was attended by 30 members. The executive committee liaised with two livestock extension officers working in the local ward under the sub-county agriculture department to facilitate the session. The session covered:
The group developed an action plan for health management as more and more OSIEPE members improve local chicken production and plan to introduce dairy production. The health component of value chain development was integrated into the individual action plans for the group members that were developed after Bomet trip. A collective approach to livestock health management including starting of a group vet-lab, collective access to health training and animal treatment services. Members thanked the facilitators and executive committee for organizing the successful meeting. They promised to implement the lessons learnt and pass on to others who did not attend and be "leading lights" for the community. |
