On 4th April 2015, OSIEPE members participated in an in-house agribusiness investment workshop to review value chain development options and create plans for implementation. The workshop was facilitated by the technical team led-by the patron. The workshop was held at Oseng’teti Primary School and attended by 34 members. |
- Revisit the Organization’s Pillars for personal and collective commitment
- Explore investment portfolios for group and household development
- Identify immediate, medium term and long-term investment options for wealth creation and food security
- Scope and plan for other capacity development/partnership opportunities
- Collective and Personal Development: Investment Options Scoping Workshop
The participants reviewed the specific activities under the agriculture and food security pillar and prioritized dairy, horticulture and poultry value chains. The concepts of value chain was discussed and opportunities for profitable participation as individuals and groups were identified.
A complete plan to implement the priority value chains was drawn including opportunities for participation in input sourcing and supply, production, processing, transport and marketing. Special attention was paid to collective access to technology and knowledge , inputs, infrastructure, partnerships with public and private sector actors, capacity building and other innovations to make the value chain aspirations a reality. The linkages between the pillar and other pillars such as economic empowerment, environment and social sustainability:were highlighted and relevant activities planned.
