As part of the food security pillar value chain development action plan drawn by OSIEPE, a learning trip was made to Bomet County. The trip received a high profile recognition as it was endorsed by Bomet County Governor, H.E. Isaac Ruto who also hosted OSIEPE members and availed his highly motivated agri-business ministry staff to lead the tour. The major highlight of the meeting were the welcome reception by the County Cabinet led by the Deputy Governor (H.E. Stephen Mutai), Minister for Agri-business Development (Hon. Alex Kirui) and Chief Officer (Ms Beatrice Kirui). |
- An introduction to the county, its agriculture value chain activities and the structure of the cooperative set-up.

- Visit to model farmers who have well developed daily, local chicken and intensive crop farming enterprises
Important lessons were learnt and member committed to implementing useful technologies/best practices in the groups individual and collective work plan on value chain development. Important networks were created between individual farmers and OSIEPE members as well as between OSIEPE and specific cooperative societies in Bomet.
The group was treated to lunch by Bomet County Government before the end of the trip. Prior to their return to Chemelil, the members gathered for a working dinner at Itibo Resort in Kisii County where debriefing was done and the members committed to refining the action plan to incorporate newly learned ideas.
